Neil Krug
His series Pulp Art Book shot with out of date polaroid film, slowly builds a sense of unease in you and even makes you feel a little disturbed. Maybe thats why I couldnt look away. Definitely check out his work.

Plastic
Toxic Garbage Island on VBS.TV is an amazing little doco about how humans continue to destroy the planet. If you can, definitely watch the whole thing. If you cant be bothered just watch part 3. Hopefully it makes you change the way you think. I've seen alot of climate change/global warming/pollution videos but this is by far the worst one. It made me feel sick and totally ashamed to be human and to be part of the problem.
"Social contract, that we give up our individual liberties to the society as a whole because it can liberate us greater than we could do by ourselves. Is that still the case? Are we getting the bang for the buck out of our society and our social institutions that we give up our anarchistic tendencies for?"

Bill Viola in Conversation
Most amazing dude I have ever heard. He spoke for an hour an a half at ACMI about Japanese death poems, eternal love, why there is so much emphasis on the visual part of our world, and how post-modern art is like a piece of clothing with the price tag on. My favourite bit was when he talked about how in order for art to be pure and to come completely from within yourself you have to unconscious of what you are doing and forget everything.
Viola’s Fire Woman and Tristan’s Ascension can be experienced at St Carthage’s Church, The Raft is showing at ACMI and his work is also part of the Mortality exhibition at ACCA. Ocean Without a Shore is a permanent installation at NGV International.

jorge.
These shots from the Jorge campaign are so beautiful. The colours are so soft and I love the way they merge effortlessly into each other. I must try this method of double exposing. I've seen it before but this is just so beautiful and feminine.

Schaffa Dear
I am so glad to finally be able to share this with everyone. Schaffas 2 launched on Friday in Adelaide and all the Schaffas went to auction. The website is up and running where you can see all the Schaffas including mine. There is also a book you can buy that has them all in there including some from the first Schaffas.
Have a look!!

Project 10
Some of my work which was featured in my blog earlier this year is in this exhibition. It will also feature in Verandah Literary Journal sometime in September. It shows off some of Deakin University's talented art students through a range of mediums. Worth a look.

Hipstamatic killed Lomography?
On the weekend my friends felt the need to show me (because I am extremely noob when it comes to iPhone apps.) the Hipstamatic. Apparently it won iPhone application of the year. True to it's name it creates incredibly interesting photos. It's just the 'matic' part I have a problem with. Photographers worked their asses off to created images like this, they tried all sorts of different techniques and then went and got the actual film developed. Now all you have to do is download this app and you can create the same thing without all the effort. Then again as my friend also mentioned 'they are all just accidents anyway', it still feels a little wrong but it looks good.
